Close Godalming Minster

Godalming Minster Church Street has a fabulous peal of 8 bells which can be heard across town.

More than 250 years ago!

The original bells of St Peter and St Paul’s were first rung in 1775, more than 250 years ago.  They were replaced in 2017 by a new ring of eight bells, and today the accomplished team of bell ringers still delight the town by calling people to worship before services, and for weddings.

The team is part of the Guildford Diocesan Guild of Bell Ringers and practice on Tuesday evenings.

Feeling adventurous?

Visit the ringing chamber during Godalming Staycation Week in August, and on Heritage Open Days in September. Climb the steep and narrow staircase and hear for yourself how good the new bells sound.

Give the bell captain a ring!
