The sprucing up of 2 South Hill
Carol Jones and her crew of volunteers have been working really hard this week to get 2 South Hill up to scratch for our new curate, David Preece and family. Carol needs more help next week - can you join in? The more the merrier. She’ll be there Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm, all equipment supplied. If you’d like to be part of the South Hill fun, contact Carol directly on her mobile.

Hambledon Prayer Breakfast
Saturday 20th May, 8.30am in the Church room. All welcome to come along.

Our next Squires lunch will be on Sunday 21st May 2017 at 12 noon. If you would like to join us perhaps you would let Terry Swanton know by Wednesday 17th May? Newcomers welcome. We do hope you will be able to join us and we look forward to seeing you there.

Hambledon Songs of Praise!
Got a favourite hymn? Let us know what it is and join us to ‘raise the roof’ at Hambledon Church at 7.30pm Thursday 18th May and find out if others share your choice. Send your nominations, if possible with the reason you’ve chosen it, to catherine.mcbride@bhcgodalming.org

Hambledon - A Celebration in Flowers!
Two years ago our first ‘celebration’ was a huge success, with floral contributions from the pub, shop, nursery school, cricket and football clubs…and even the Rector! Come along to Hambledon Church on the 10th or 11th June to enjoy this year’s displays – delicious cream teas will be served between 10.00am-6.00pm on the Saturday (so you could come along after Spring Cleaning at Busbridge!) and midday-6.00pm on the Sunday.

Great Godalming Duck Race!
Our very own Penny Naylor is taking the opportunity to attend the Great Godalming Duck Race on Saturday 20th May to promote the marvellous Befriending Network. Perhaps you were intending going along with your own duck? Or maybe this is the incentive to encourage you? Now keep an open mind about this request...Penny needs a collection of hardy souls who would be prepared to don the ’Buddy the dog’ costume at the befriending stall. The event is taking place at the Phillips Memorial Park and runs between 11.00am and 4.00pm - just supporting Penny for an hour of that time would be a great help. And if anyone doesn’t feel like becoming Buddy, people coming along to help distribute packs of tea and biscuits are also most welcome. Just an hour of someone’s time would make a big difference. Please email penny.naylor@bhcgodalming.org.

Easter Collection: Open Doors
Thanks to everyone for their generosity with our Easter appeal for Open Doors. We raised £5000 when you include gift aid, which is a great result.

If you’d like to find out more, please talk to Karen Kinder in the first instance.

Old Rectory Update
Great News! The Taylor family have completed their family move across the street to the new rectory, so we can press ahead with work to the Old Rectory.

We have issued an official request for tender to four different contractors, and expect to have their bids by the end of this month. On the financial side, thanks to your generosity we have raised enough money to complete the purchase of the Old Rectory site from the Diocese, however, we don't yet have enough funds to compete all of our planned building projects to Old Rectory, Church Cottage and the Church Centre. So please keep your standing orders and other giving in place!

BIG Spring Clean
The annual BIG Spring Clean is happening on Saturday 10th June at Busbridge Church (for those doubters amongst you, the date was googled and it still counts as ‘Spring’!). “But what does this involve?!” I hear you cry. An excellent question. We have all sorts of indoor, outdoor, gardening, painting, building jobs to do - it’s not all about dusting the pews! We also need people to help organise the scrumptious lunch that is always a highlight of the day. Can the rest of the potential eager volunteers please email karen.kinder@bhcgodalming.org ASAP as the job list is growing. Thanks!
