School applications
If you are thinking of submitting a church application to Busbridge Junior School then you’ll need to:
1) visit the Busbridge Junior School website and familiarise yourself with their admission criteria (‘About Us’, ‘Policies’, ‘Admission Criteria for 2018-2019’). We have hard copies in the office if you don’t have access to a computer.
2) pick up an information sheet from the church office
3) bring the church reference form to the church office by 10th December at the latest (please ensure that you are eligible - the criteria are on the information form)
4) a member of the clergy will meet with you to discuss your application and if approved, you need to take your signed Benefice verification to the school by the application closing date (15 January 2018).

Movie matinee
If you were already planning on going to the fabulous Busbridge Junior School Christmas Fayre on 2nd December why not throw in a Christmassy movie at the end of it? This popular Christmas film is perfect for getting you in the Christmas spirit and will be shown in Busbridge Church at 2.30pm. Popcorn served and no cost to attend - bring as many of your friends as you like (and a good idea to bring a cushion too).

Volunteer needed!
Our office volunteers do an absolutely invaluable job in the life of Busbridge&Hambledon Church, and we don’t know what we’d do without them! On your behalf, a HUGE thank you for all that they do. We have a vacancy for a volunteer on a Friday morning, starting in the New Year...could this be you? Just 2½ hours once a week or find a friend and ‘job share’ and help out every fortnight, term time only if you prefer it that way. To find out more, call Karen at the church office on 01483 421267.

The gift of gift wrapping…
If anyone would like to help the children of Busbridge Junior school wrap their presents in the secret Santa room from 12.00pm-2.00pm on 2nd December then please get in touch with Nicky Hemery.

Thank you
From Ss Peter and Paul and St Marks: “This Sunday will be the last regular monthly service led by the Busbridge Worship Group at St Marks.  A huge thank you goes to all members of this group who have been invaluable in committing to worship alongside the congregation of St Marks.”

Old Rectory Update
Last Sunday Busbridge held its ‘Big Sunday Dig’. We have heard many stories of people taking their turf home and praying for the project.
We were short of our target last week but, due to incredible generosity, we are able to update everyone across Busbridge&Hambledon (with many in Hambledon committed financially – thank you)…
...So, with amazing congratulations, we can say building work starts Monday because, over the past week gifts have been pledged which means we have...fully reached the target!!
Plus have additional mission giving on top of this! We are grateful to those with standing orders into 2018 which have been factored into the plans for covering the cost of the works.
Hooray!
Please note that the Old Rectory is now a building site so there is no access. Any questions, please speak with Anthony Charter or Mark Williams (not Mark Pateman).

A warm welcome to all the people attending our Remembrance Services today (children will remain with the congregation). If you’ve not been to Busbridge or Hambledon before and you’d like to know a bit more, please ask one of our lovely welcomers for a welcome pack.

More exciting news…
The four part adaptation of Howard’s End starts this Sunday at 9.00pm on BBC 1. The scenes featuring Howard’s End, the house and its village are filmed in and around Hambledon and include a funeral procession across the fields and the burial itself in the churchyard at St Peter’s. Enjoy the scenery including Vann as Howard’s End and a member of the 9.00 congregation amongst the extras! We think the churchyard scene is likely to be at the beginning of episode 2 on Sunday 19th November.

Could you be our Mary or Joseph?
We are looking for 2 children to be part of the town procession on Saturday 9th December at 3.00pm. Have you ever wanted to be Mary or Joseph? Then now’s your chance! You’ll get to dress up as these important Bible characters and walk from Crown Court all the way to the Pepperpot. Ideally our Mary and Joseph need to be aged 8-12 years. To put your name forward, please contact Becky on becky.bradley@bhcgodalming.org or call 01483 421267 for more details.

Alternative Advent idea…(It’s not all about the chocolate!)
With Christmas fast approaching and the ever growing choice of advent calendars probably getting all too overwhelming, we have an idea for your family for a non-conventional advent calendar. The ‘25 days of Christmas Bible verses’ is an alternative family advent calendar for you and your family to find and read different bible verses together. It gives you a taking point at a family meal or an activity to do after the busy school day to relax at home. If you would like this alternative advent calendar, email becky.bradley@bhcgodalming.org.

The funeral service for Dick Higgins will be on Friday 27th October at 4.00pm, to which all friends are welcome. This will be preceded by a committal at the crematorium. After the church service, there will be refreshments at Glennie. Everyone is warmly invited and anyone is welcome to turn up at the last minute, but if people know they are likely to be there, it would be really helpful to know in advance, for catering purposes. Please send replies to Anne at allthetates@gmail.com.

Catherine McBride writes…
Thank you so much for all your prayers and good wishes as I leave Busbridge&Hambledon Church to move to be Vicar at St Mary’s, Market Drayton. Thank you, too, for your amazingly generous gift, which was truly humbling. This has been a great benefice to work in: a fantastic team, an exciting vision and a loving family. God has done some exciting things here and I’m sure he has plenty in store yet. The church office has my new address and details; if you are ever passing through Shropshire do look me up. Every blessing, Catherine.

Thanks to everyone for their generosity in donations for the foodbank for Harvest.

Catherine McBride Licensing
Catherine’s licensing service at St Mary’s, Market Drayton will be at 7pm on 22nd November. If you would like to attend to support Catherine, please let Alan Harvey know as soon as possible, as he is coordinating arrangements. The kind people there are offering some accommodation; equally if you would prefer to make your own plans for B&B that is fine. There is no coach on offer. Instead, people are largely making their own way: if you do need a lift, let Alan know, and he will sort something out. Please note, this is not an event where you can just turn up! The churchwardens there have asked for details well in advance and Alan is liaising with them, so as to allow for a seating plan, etc. The absolute deadline for letting Alan know of your plans is close on Monday 30th October. alan.harvey@bhcgodalming.org or 01483 423264.

Gill and Rog Matthews thank everyone for all the good wishes they received from Catherine and the whole congregation at their last service at Hambledon in September. “Thanks to everyone also for the gifts of cards, flowers, local gin and the generous John Lewis voucher. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to serve with everyone at St Peter's and we hope it remains forever the very special place it has been for us for the past eighteen years. We are making St Jude’s, Southsea our new church home and have already joined a local house group but the children’s craft materials and guitar remain in their respective boxes and case – for now.”

Note: If anyone needs to use the hoover from the Church centre in either the Church or old rectory, can you please make sure you return it to the centre when you’ve finished?
