Sunday 6 October 2019

Harvest Festival & Mission Sunday, 6 October
Our harvest charity is Elam Ministries which works with Iranians and Afghans, both in the country and outside it.  See elam.com.  Welcome to the Elam representatives who are speaking at our services today.  Giving envelopes are available to take home this Sunday for your financial contributions.

Your collection of harvest items will go to The Cellar in Crown Court, which has a tremendous ministry to those in the town and around who have fallen on hard times. They would particularly like donations of the following:  toilet rolls, cleaning products, soap powder, toiletries, sauces, pickles, tinned tuna, tinned beans, tea bags, coffee, child-friendly cereal (not muesli) rather than rice, pasta or soup.

Hambledon Harvest breakfast from 9.15am.  Come before the Combined service at 10am and enjoy tea, coffee and a continental breakfast.

BHC10KM - Spire2Spire
Please excuse anyone in running gear in the 10am services this morning - and give them a pat on the back!  They are likely to have run from Busbridge Church to Hambledon Church and back again in the first  BHC Spire2Spire 10km!

Still seeking a 4-11s Children and Families worker...Could God be calling you to work with children and families? We’d love to hear from you if this could be for you full time, part time, term time… we’re exploring possibilities and Simon or Anto would like to hear from you.

Classic congregation social:  please stay longer after the Classic service next Sunday, 13 October, to enjoy chat, coffee and cake.

Annual Memorial Service,  Saturday 19 October, 3pm
This is an open invitation to all who may wish to come.  If you have been bereaved within the last two years, you will already have received a personal letter of invitation.  To extend the welcome, extra letters are available at the back of both churches, and at Contemporary.  Anyone who has been bereaved, however long ago, is warmly invited to join us.  We shall  be delighted to welcome any family members or friends who might like to come with you.

Ladies Pudding Night, Friday 18 October, 8pm ...And for dessert? is a delicious opportunity for ladies across Busbridge and Hambledon to relax on a Friday evening in a lovely Busbridge home.  Bring a homemade bake, something to drink, invite your friends and enjoy time out.  Email ladies@bhcgodalming.org to book.

Sing it Out! takes place again on Wed 9 October, this week in Busbridge Church on a trial basis.  This is not just for Mums with pre-school children, but Juliet our 0-3s worker supervises activities for the little ones while you sing.

Hambledon Ladies Breakfast, 9 November
The Hambledon Ladies’ Breakfasts take place at West Surrey Golf Club and feature a guest speaker to accompany the generous golf club breakfast.  Penny Naylor will be speaking at the next breakfast on Saturday 9 November, and tickets (£8) are available from the Hambledon Village Shop from 21 October to 5 November.

New (but familiar) for Christmas 2019!
Busbridge Community Carol Singing, Sunday 15 December.
To complement the annual Carols in the Pub at the Merry Harriers, and Christmas Eve Carols at the Village Shop in Hambledon, we are planning to take our voices out to Busbridge, on a route from the church to Holloway Hill recreation ground, finishing in the sports pavilion bar.  All singers welcome!  It’s a simple formula, but will require some organisation.  Would anyone like to volunteer?  Please contact vic.hicks@bhcgodalming.org.

The full Christmas programme will be published shortly!

Busbridge Church heating is back on and a warm welcome awaits you!
