Notices for 13 March

Rally for Ukraine at the Godalming Bandstand - Sat 12 March at 12 noon

Please join in a show of solidarity for Ukraine this Saturday 12th March at 12 noon at the Godalming bandstand in Phillips Memorial Park. All political parties and local churches are coming together at this time, with speakers including Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP, Councillor Paul Follows (Lib Dem), Nick Palmer (Labour) and other local dignitaries. Godalming Rotary will be collecting for the Red Cross Ukraine Appeal. Prayers will be led by Rev Simon Taylor.

During Lent, the weekly prayer vigils for Ukraine will continue on TUESDAYS: 7.30pm at Hambledon Church, and 8pm at Busbridge Church.

The Churches are open for private prayer daily, and there will be community friendly guidance for your prayers, and tea lights to take away.

This Sunday at 5-5.45pm the prayer coordinators for the Minster Evaluation process invite you to St Peter and St Paul's to pray for Ukraine and the Minster Evaluation process.

We encourage everyone to continue to pray for peace in Ukraine, to to give financially to the DEC appeal which receives match funding from the UK government. Click above to give directly.

Let's come together to pray, or pray individually as much and as often as we can at this time.

GIVE £
For the time being, other effective courses of action appear to limited, so we continue to encourage financial giving directly to the DEC Ukraine Appeal.  Alternatively, Hambledon is collecting for the DEC via the Hambledon Ukraine Appeal which instigated by members of the village and church. There are cash and electronic collection points in the church, pub, Hambledon Nursery and the village shop which will go to the Just Giving campaign: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/hambledonukraineappeal

The full details can be found on the Hambledon Village web site:  http://www.hambledonsurrey.co.uk.   This a a great way to track and encourage the village's fundraising efforts and spirit of generosity.

We will keep watch for other ways to support the people of Ukraine as time goes on.  All suggestions welcome and will be prayerfully considered.

Godalming Minster Evaluation of joining the benefices of Busbridge&Hambledon with St Peter and St Paul’s and St Mark’s.
Following the Bishop’s invitation to Busbridge&Hambledon Church, St Peter and St Paul’s Church and St Mark’s Church to evaluate the creation of a single parish, the PCCs have begun the process, coordinated by the Godalming Minster Evaluation Steering Group. Working groups have been created to look at different areas: Finance, Property, Services and Worship, Clergy, 0-18s, and Ops and Admin. The Steering Group will provide regular updates, the first of which can be found below:

It is so close, but the opening of the café has been put back, just by a week a so. The café management team, the contractors, Lizzie Donna and Luke are pulling out all the stops, overcoming last minute hurdles to be ready to open the week after next. Training for 24 enthusiastic and wonderful café volunteers went ahead this week, and the barista coffee machine has now been installed!

The latest edition of the Bridge Magazine is now available online and will be out for delivery next week. Thanks, and a big pat on the back, to new editor David Brockman!

In search of the Busbridge church tablecloths…if anyone has knowledge or possession of the blue (6), green gingham or pink tablecloths, which used to live in the old Centre, and most often used by Prime Time, please let Penny Naylor know, or return them to the Old Rectory.

Invitation from Chris Jagger: Dan Eley is one of my heroes with whom I have served in El Salvador and Colombia prior and after his tragic accident in the Amazon jungle leading to paralysis from the neck down. His love for young people at home and abroad is stellate and his passion for music and creative energy echoes in my heart.

Please support the efforts of our gifted young people - you will be awe-struck if you have not attended this event before - I always come away humbled by the genius gifting and disciplined practicing that lies behind the heavenly outcome. I will be there to welcome you at the door, Chris

COVID NOTICE
All legal restrictions are now lifted for churches and places of worship. This means that face coverings are no longer a legal requirement in services. However, The Church of England and the Bishop of Guildford suggest that churches consider maintaining some precautions for the care and consideration of all members, and that these are at the discretion of the incumbent.

Busbridge&Hambledon church continues to welcome the use of face coverings in services, and a supply of masks and hand sanitiser is available in both churches and the Old Rectory. Neither church is large enough to guarantee social distancing, but we hope that those who wish to keep a little more space between themselves and others can do so. Communion will continue to be celebrated in one kind. Thank you for your ongoing co-operation, and respect for each other.

Busbridge and Hambledon Churches are open daily for private prayer.
