SUNDAY 4 OCTOBER - HARVEST

Mission Sunday - Harvest

Reading: Ruth 2:1-12

Our 2020 Harvest Appeal is in aid of Tearfund and we will be hearing from Charlotte Nobbs at Tearfund in all of the Services. To donate to the Harvest Appeal, please make a bank transfer to Busbridge PCC, donate on tearfund.org or take a giving envelope from church.

Thank you for remembering the poorest of the poor, and be willing to be generous and open-hearted in these restrictive and difficult times. Your church is being that light in the darkness. Thank you.

Every blessing
— Charlotte Nobbs, Tearfund

There will be a traditional collection of non-perishable gifts in aid of the Godalming Food Bank and the Community Store, so please bring your offerings to any of the services this Sunday.

COVID-19 Safety notice for sunday services

Please also help Busbridge&Hambledon Church to comply with NHS Test and Trace, and save a little time when everyone arrives, by signing up to services in advance.

Details and instructions for each service can be found when you click the button to sign up, but in short we are continuing to follow the government mantra: Hands. Face. Space. Hand sanitiser will be available on entry to the services, face coverings must be worn and social distancing of 2m will be observed.

NHS Test & Trace App & QR codes: Smart phone users may also have the new NHS COVID-19 Test & Trace app - a QR code poster is on display at Busbridge Church, Hambledon Church and the Old Rectory, and the government asks you to check in to all BHC venues using the app too. (Yes, please sign up and check in on both systems so we can establish and alert close contacts in the church community should a + test be reported.)

The Notices

On Sunday 6 September Busbridge&Hambledon Church with Godalming Baptist Church hosted The Big Drive In as we met as a church in a field. Here’s a summery of the event. Now we know how it works, we hope to do something similar for Christmas. Watch this space.

Busbridge Contemporary Service - Sunday 11th, 18th and 25th October
We will be in the BJS hall and relaying the audio to the playground so we all can gather together (spaced 2m apart!).

Children are more than welcome to come and be part of our worship as we gather as a church family, but there won't be children's provision in the service itself. The creche room can be used as a breakout room for anyone with wriggly/noisy babies or children if needed. Our fantastic Ark and Explorers groups will continue online for October, and Pathfinders and Ichthus are meeting on Sunday afternoons.

We aren't yet in a position to live stream the service into other classrooms or wider as we're waiting on technology (apparently everyone else is now seeking video cameras and the technology too...). We will instead video the service and get it uploaded to the BHC YouTube channel as soon as we can so we can continue to do life together with those who can't yet join in person.

Finally if you would like to come and be a Welcomer at the Contemporary we would love to hear from you!
Thank you so much for the encouraging emails and communication we have received over recent weeks and months. David Preece and the Contemporary Leadership Team.

How the Busbridge ‘Chain of Hope’ has reached Ladywell Convent

This is is a message Penny Naylor received from Sister Mary.

“I am now able to walk (not sure for how long) around the roads near Ladywell. I don't go to Godalming or anywhere there are a lot of people.  I am doing the Camino to Santiago virtually. I am also making it a Spiritual Journey and I hope it will be more of that than a virtual one.  So, I am walking 10 or so km per day sometimes a little less and today I added a stone to your wonderful 'Chain of Hope'.  It gave me such a lift I decided I needed to add one to it for all those I love  I post daily on Facebook so I hope you don't mind that I have taken the liberty of putting my stone and a few others up there with a 'Message of Hope' for those who will read it.  I have a few followers and they seem to be getting, by God's grace a little lift from reading my posts. What a wonderful and encouraging idea and thank you so much.  I have done about 7% now and will get a medal at the end but even though I am only doing it virtually, I feel really connected and that this is a journey of faith.  I thought it might help me if I get locked down again.  I found walking up and down the drive in Ladywell demanded a lot of courage and motivation”.

Please pray for Please pray for these roads and their residents, and perhaps include them on a prayer walk this week:

  • Park Road and road stewards Anthony Field and Frances Morris

  • Upper Vann Lane
