Close Godalming Minster

From traditional choral to electric guitar, drum and bass you can find it all at Godalming Minster, and we welcome new musicians.  With six Sunday services there’s plenty of opportunity for you to get involved!

The Minster Choir & Organ

Godalming Minster Church Street is home to the regular choir which accompanies the traditional Choral Eucharist services and a monthly Evensong.  It’s also available to sing for weddings and funerals at any Minster site.

The choir has recently sung at Winchester, Chichester and Guildford cathedrals, and also enjoys visits to sing at other churches across the diocese.  You can get a sense of the choir’s wide repertoire from the monthly music list, by selecting any choral service in the service calendar.

New members who are comfortable with sight reading are always welcome; please get in touch to find out about being part of this rich heritage.

The fine three-manual organ at Godalming Minster Church Street was originally built by William Hill & Son in 1887.

To find out about joining the choir, the organ or to invite the choir to sing, please get in touch with the Organist & Master of the choristers using the button below.

Contemporary worship in Godalming

Contemporary worship has been a fundamental part of the Minster’s more recent heritage at Busbridge, and today services at Brighton Road and Church Street are led by one of the worship bands.

Our song list features the most popular Christian chart toppers from Hillsong, Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin… to allow everyone to connect deeply in worship during services.

The bands can be made up of any variety of classical and modern instruments and all musicians are invited to get involved.  We encourage young musicians to join in, most regularly at the 6pm Evening Service at Brighton Road.

Something in between

Hymns are sung at the Classic services at Brighton Road accompanied by the organ or piano, and Franklyn Road also sings a mixture and is looking to build its team of musicians.

At Hambledon traditional hymns are combined with some worship songs too, and the village choir “pops up” for special occasions and Evensong services 3-4 times a year.
