The Lammas Ringers are based in Godalming Minster Church Street, which overlooks Godalming’s Lammas Lands.

The team belongs to the Handbell Ringers of Great Britain (HRGB), and owns three octaves of handbells and a set of chimes which have been built up over a century.  Handbells are part of a rich legacy in the church, and the Lammas Ringers are keen to keep this ancient and modern musical art alive.  It encourages teamwork, enhances concentration and offers a fun challenge for skilled and untrained musicians alike.

Handbells are one of the world’s oldest instruments yet the handbells used today are sophisticated precision instruments which produce a beautifully rich sound.

How to get involved

Weekly Sessions

Every Thursday from 6pm. The Lammas Ringers get together weekly to practice a range of music. New members of all ages are always very welcome, and you do not need to read music. Please get in touch with the secretary if you'd like to come along on a Thursday.

Worshops and Rallies

As part of the Handbell Ringers of Great Britain, the Lammas Ringers host and take part in regional and national workshops and rallies, where they are able to enjoy ringing and socialising with other teams.

Taster Sessions

Enjoy a hands-on handbell ringing experience yourself! You'll be amazed how quickly you can make a tune, and children find them fun and quite addictive.

Look out for taster sessions during Godalming Staycation (usually the first week of August) or contact the secretary to arrange a session.

Concerts and Performances

The Lammas Ringers perform at a variety of concerts and events by arrangement, as well as holding their own events. Audience participation is encouraged with a set of a set of belleplates which are shared around. Get in touch to discuss dates.
