St Mark’s Church celebrated its 90th birthday in 2024. It has always been at the centre of community life, bringing people together and responding to particular needs with acceptance and compassion.
There are strong links with St Mark’s and All Saints Primary School, and Godalming Minster runs a popular after-school club once a week. You can find the Foodbank, The Hub (a registered warm space) and Smart Tots here on different days, and the congregation gathers at 10am every Sunday. Check the calendar for church services and activities run by Godalming Minster at Franklyn Road below.
As a community centre, St Mark’s is well used by groups which hire the space for yoga, pilates, table tennis, drumming, book groups, chess and U3A. Bookings and access can be arranged by contacting Karen in the community centre office t: 01483 418741.
Facilities
The whole centre can be hired for an event such as a fete or a special birthday celebration, or the hall or studio can be booked separately.
The Church Hall has a cleverly designed altar area which can be closed off to make the church hall a multi-purpose activity space for the community.
The hall is light and spacious and often hired for activities such as keep fit, short mat bowls and pilates.
Approximate size 12m x 8m (39ft x 27ft)
The studio is a little smaller, light and welcoming with doors onto the garden.
It is used by the NHS for special groups as well as toddler groups and a Warm Hub every Tuesday.
With a hatch leading from our fully equipped kitchen, it is popular for children’s parties and workshops.
Approximate size 9.5m x 7m (31ft by 20ft)
