Close Godalming Minster

Godalming Minster Church Street has a fabulous peal of 8 bells which can be heard across town.  The original bells of St Peter and St Paul’s were first rung in 1775, more than 250 years ago.  They were replaced in 2017 by a new ring of eight bells, and today the accomplished team of bell ringers still call people to worship, proclaim weddings and sometimes funerals.

Ringing Schedule

Tuesdays is bellringing practice from 7.45-9.30pm
Sundays the bells are rung between the two morning services from about 10-10.30am, and on the 4th Sunday of the month for 5pm Evensong.

Special Occasions
The bells peal at Christmas, for weddings and some funerals.   Visiting bell teams also ring the bells from time to time, and once a year – usually in winter – our team rings a full peal, a set piece of ringing that lasts about three hours.

Notice of bell ringing
None scheduled at present.

Feeling adventurous?

Visit the ringing chamber during Godalming Staycation Week in August, and on Heritage Open Days in September. Climb the steep and narrow staircase and hear for yourself how good the new bells sound.

Give the bell captain a ring!

The team is part of the Guildford Diocesan Guild of Bell Ringers.
