Close Godalming Minster

From traditional choral to electric guitar, drum and bass you can find it all at Godalming Minster, and we welcome new musicians.  With six Sunday services there’s plenty of opportunity for you to get involved!

Choir

Godalming Minster Church Street is home to the regular choir which accompanies the traditional Choral Eucharist services and a monthly Evensong.

The choir sings a wide repertoire from across the Anglican choral tradition and, as well as singing the liturgy and enhancing the worship in our traditional choral services, is available to sing for weddings and funerals across the Minster. The choir continues to visit and sing at various cathedrals (recent visits include Winchester, Chichester and Guildford) and also enjoys singing in other churches across the diocese – enquiries are warmly welcome by clicking the link below.

Godalming Minster Church Street also houses a fine three-manual organ, originally built by William Hill & Son in 1887. The specification can be found here.

The choir warmly welcomes new members who are comfortable with sight reading; please get in touch with the Organist and Master of the Choristers to find out about being part of this rich heritage.  Email our Master of Choristers

You can find the latest music list by selecting a choral service in the service calendar.

Elsewhere across Godalming Minster, choirs may “pop up” for special occasions, and most regularly at St Peter’s Hambledon which holds Evensong services 3-4 times a year.

Contemporary worship in Godalming

Contemporary worship has been a fundamental part of the Minster’s more recent heritage at Busbridge, and today services at Brighton Road and Church Street are led by one of the worship bands.

Our song list features the most popular Christian chart toppers from Hillsong, Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin… to allow everyone to connect deeply in worship during services.

The bands can be made up of any variety of classical and modern instruments and all musicians are invited to get involved.  We encourage young musicians to join in, most regularly at the 6pm Evening Service at Brighton Road.

Something in between

Hymns are sung at the Classic services at Brighton Road accompanied by the organ or piano, and at Hambledon traditional hymns are combined with some worship songs too.

Franklyn Road also sings a mixture and is looking to build its team of musicians.
