Volunteering in the Yew Tree Café

The Yew Tree Café is run by members of Godalming Minster who give their time, passion and energy to provide a community space for people to meet throughout the week. There’s several ways you can support, with no experience required. Why not join the team?

What's involved?

Front of House

Being part of a great team, taking orders and delivering drinks and food to customers
Watching out for those who need a friendly ear or a chat
Training as a barista on our amazing coffee machine should you wish to
Assist with the routine cafe cleaning
Committing to 1 shift per week, either 8am-1pm or 1-4.30pm

Baking

Help us keep our delicious homemade cakes in good stock! Our cakes are all handmade by volunteers in the Old Rectory Kitchen. The recipes, ingredients and equipment are all provided.

Flexible slots around other activities in the kitchen
Regular shifts or Ad-Hoc

Food preperation

Assist with simple food prep, making soup, salads & sandwiches

1-2 hour shifts, once a week

Team spirit

You’ll be joining a great team of treasured volunteers who are all valued for whatever skills and gifts they bring. All our managers are encouraging and patient – and very glad to have you. We pride ourselves on the friendly and accepting culture which welcomes all. We want every volunteer and customer to leave feeling a little lift from their visit.

Training

You’ll get experience in a really well run café which maintains a 5 star hygiene rating, excellent barista coffee and an electronic till. We can train you on any or all of the elements you are interested in.
